Owlets - Baby Great Horn Owls
The owlets at birth are covered a down, it’s not until later that they develop feathers. The young owlets leave their nest when they are able to fly around 9 to 10 following birth. The mother and father are very protective of their young and will often attack intruder that come to close to the nest. The Great Horned Owl parents are also very protective as their young owlets are not able to protect themselves and unfortunately often don’t get to reach adulthood.
